Brainerd Panthers

This Friday night, for just the second time this year the Austin East Roadrunners (3-2) will play a game on their home turf. The Roadrunners will be hosting the Panthers of Chattanooga Brainerd (3-1) at 7:30 on Friday night. The Panthers come into the game with a 3-1 mark on the season, dropping their first game last week at the hands of East Ridge (12-7). Before that game, Brainerd posted wins against Walker Valley, East Hamilton and Notre Dame. This will be just the second time that Brainerd has played a game on the road. So far on the year, the Panthers offense is averaging an impressive 32 points per game, while the defense has held its own as well giving up just over 10 points per game. The offense is lead by dual threat quarterback Anthony Broome. Wide receiver Jermain Williams has been a favorite target of Broome all year, and with some impressive size has proved to be a solid receiver. Penalties have been a major thorn in the side of Brainerd thus far in the season. Last week they piled up 14 penalties, including getting a touchdown called back that would have given them the lead very late in the fourth quarter.

The Roadrunners and Panthers have met for the past several years. Last year at Brainerd the Roadrunners won the contest by a score of 34-0, but in years past the game has always been competitive.
Be sure to come out this Friday night to cheer on your Austin East Roadrunners as they battle Chattanooga Brainerd! Last week marked the halfway point of the season, now that Austin East is in the second half of the season every game becomes that much more important. So come out Friday night to support Austin East!
